One Health and the Sustainable Development Goals Talk

I organized a talk on One Health and the Sustainable Development goals in my capacity of Auditor of the One Health Society. This involved asking Professor Patrick Walsh, professor of international development studies in UCD to talk about the development of the goals and how they relate to public health. Professor Walsh spent a year on secondment in the United Nations as part of the committee that drafted the goals and as such was in a good position to deliver such a speech.

I organized this event with the UCD Volunteers Overseas society and the UCD Politics and International Society in order to attract as many interested people as possible to the event. As such, the event also introduced our members of One Health (mainly medical and veterinary students) to the work of the UCD VO and International relations societies, and vice versa. We had a small mixer before and after the event to facilitate this.

Overall the event was a success with over 70 people in attendance.
